About

Alba Fernandez is based in Dublin.  Graduating from the National Film School in 2017, she has quickly become one of Ireland’s most exciting female cinematographers.

Recent work includes Weight (Baumhaus Films), Callus  (Screen Ireland Focus Shorts) and  Animal, both winners of Best Cinematography at the European Cinematography Awards 2023,  Stable (Winner of Best Cinematography at Women in Film & TV Ireland Showcase 2023) and Licence for Nil, were all selected for Galway Film Fleadh 2023.  She also shot Irish language feature Documentary Reds na hEireann for TG4 and Virgin Media TV’s Inside The Hospice alongside Eleanor Bowman.

In 2021, she won the Donal Gilligan Award for Best Cinematography in a Short Film for her work in Faitíos and has  shot music videos for  All Tvvins, Somebody’s Child and Curtis Walsh.

Oisín was her debut as Director/Writer in 2022.  She has since directed shorts selected for Galway, Iris Prize and BFI Flare, and been nominated for Best Director, Best Short Film and Best Screenwriting awards, and  for the Taking Flight Award at the Kerry Film Festival.
