Jean is an accomplished Irish writer for screen, stage and radio based in Dublin. She has been commissioned variously to adapt, write, co-write and re-write by production companies throughout Ireland and in USA and Australia.
The Bright Side, her latest feature as co-writer won the 2020 audience award at Cork Film Festival. Other features include the screenplay for How About You based on a Maeve Binchy short story with a star-studded cast including Vanessa Redgrave, Imelda Staunton, Brenda Fricker and Hayley Atwell.
She has worked on numerous short films as writer, director and producer. She directed Serial Numbers and To The Mountain which were broadcast on TV and shown in film festivals across Europe and the USA winning awards. She wrote, directed and co-produced the documentary Ordinary Worries: The Bosnian Community in Ireland which was broadcast on RTÉ.
For radio Charlotte, won a P.J. O’Connor Award and was produced and broadcast by RTÉ. Haymaker was produced and broadcast as a four-part series by RTÉ and was nominated for a Zebbie by The Writer’s Guild of Ireland.
She has a First Class Hons Degree in Japanese and International Marketing from Dublin City University and a MA (Hons) in Film Studies from University College Dublin. She was awarded a scholarship to the prestigious Sight and Sound Film Production Course in The Tisch School of Arts, New York University.
