Panu Aaltio is one of Finland’s most prolific film composers. He is based in Helsinki and Los Angeles and has composed music to numerous feature films, TV series and video games, as well as a full-length ballet for the Finnish National Opera.
Panu won the prestigious Best Documentary Score Award from the International Film Critics Music Association for Tale of a Forest in 2013 and Tale of a Lake in 2017 for which he also won a Jussi Award. His first feature score for The Home of Dark Butterflies was nominated for Best Music Jussi Award and was selected as Finland’s submission for the Academy Awards and Nordic Council Film Prize.
He studied music technology and composition at Sibelius Academy in Finland and film music at the University of Southern California graduating with a Harry Warren Scholarship for Excellence in Film Scoring.
